Trading Card Shipping Glossary

Every abbreviation, product name, and USPS term you'll encounter when shipping trading cards professionally. Definitions are FCCP's — corrections welcome via contact.

#10 envelope
A US standard business envelope (4.125"×9.5"). The Aimoh #10 security envelope shipped with FCCP kits has a proprietary security tint on the interior to obscure contents.
Carrier Card
A purpose-built 18pt gloss cardstock insert (the FCCP proprietary component) that holds one or more top-loaders inside a #10 envelope, providing structural stability without exceeding USPS thickness/flexibility limits. Patent pending.
ClearGuard (FCCP ClearGuard)
FCCP's premium 100-pack acid-free PVC penny sleeves for standard 2.5"×3.5" trading cards.
eBay Standard Envelope (ESE)
A USPS shipping rate available exclusively through eBay for small flat items (trading cards, coins). Starts at ~$0.68 per shipment. Requires strict compliance with USPS letter-mail dimensions and thickness.
Glue Dot
A small removable adhesive circle used to secure a sealed top-loader to a Carrier Card. Removes cleanly from PVC and cardstock without residue. FCCP kits ship with a 450ct dispenser.
Guardian (FCCP Guardian)
FCCP's premium 35pt or 60pt PVC top-loaders. 35pt for standard cards; 60pt for thick cards or two-card stacks.
INR (Item Not Received)
An eBay buyer complaint claiming a purchased item never arrived. High INR rates hurt seller ratings and trigger eBay policy penalties. FCCP shipments run at <0.3% INR.
Machinable
USPS jargon for mail that can pass through automated sorters without manual intervention. Requires flexibility, uniform thickness, and no protruding elements.
Pack time
The elapsed time from picking up a card to putting the sealed envelope in the outgoing mail pile. FCCP averages ~42 seconds; DIY tape-and-cardboard averages 3–5 minutes.
Padded flat
A larger, thicker USPS shipping category (typically bubble mailers) used when a shipment exceeds ESE limits. Costs ~4× more per shipment than ESE.
Penny sleeve
A thin (~0.005") clear PVC sleeve sized for standard 2.5"×3.5" trading cards. The first layer of protection against scratches and dust. FCCP kits include 200 per Pro Kit.
pt (point)
A card-stock/plastic thickness unit. 1pt = 0.001 inch. A 35pt top-loader is 0.035" thick; 60pt is 0.060"; standard cards are ~12pt.
Secure (FCCP Secure)
FCCP's removable vinyl top-loader sealing stickers. Roll of 200. Residue-free removal.
Shield / Carrier Card (FCCP Shield)
FCCP's 18pt gloss carrier card product. Holds up to 3 top-loaders (of any thickness combination) and supports shipping of up to 6 standard 2.5"×3.5" trading cards in one envelope.
TL seal
A small removable vinyl sticker used to close the open top of a top-loader after inserting a card. Prevents card slippage during handling and transit.
Top-loader
A rigid clear PVC card holder in 3"x4" outer dimension. FCCP kits use 35pt for standard cards or 60pt for thick cards / two-card stacks.
USPS OCR
The optical character recognition camera that reads printed address blocks on letter mail. Requires the address to be in a specific zone on the envelope — FCCP envelopes are designed around this.
Vault (FCCP Vault)
FCCP's #10 heavy-duty security envelope with proprietary interior tint and easy-peel self-seal adhesive strip.
